First Ideas

When we were tasked with making a music video for our coursework for our A-Level Media Studies, we decided we wanted to make a video for a bright and lively song and not a dark and deppressing song. A song with some life and soul to it. Something that we could integrate bright ideas and colours into. We went through a list of a few songs by various different bands and artists. but we eventually narrowed it down to "ABC" by "The Jackson 5" because it matches all of our critera for the kind of video we want to create.

After deciding on the song we were going to make a video for there were many different questions we had to ask ourselves. What do we want to be in the video? How are we going to make it bright? What is the theme of the video? and also what is the story behind the video?
One of our ideas was, in the chorus, every time the song went "A, B, C, easy as 1, 2, 3" then we would have different things representing the letters A, B and C and the numbers 1, 2 and 3. Things like paper mache letters and numbers painted in bright colours, people laying on the grass in the shapes of the letters and numbers, wearing bright colours and filming them from a high up place so we could get a Birds Eye View of them. Also we thought of intergrating Stop Motion Photography and taking a series of pictures of Lego bricks in bright colours and moving the letters along and such like that.

Now we have some Ideas of what we are doing then we can start into the research more, what other videos have been made by the band of their songs. What fan videos have been made and placed upon the internet and things like that and also look into the videos for songs in the same era and genre.
